This is one of my Podencos — the hounds of Ibiza — caught in a moment of pure mischief.
Playful is an over life-size, abstracted version of the island’s beloved dog, body arched in a deep, exaggerated bow: front legs and chest low to the ground, rear high, tail curled, spine taut with excitement.
It’s a pose anyone who’s ever known a dog will recognise — an invitation to play, to run, to move.
The edition currently on show is cast in filled fiberglass and finished in a sleek black lacquer. A bronze edition is also available, on request.
